Many people are not aware of the power in Facebook friend lists. In case you don’t know what friend lists are, Facebook says

“this feature allows you to create private groupings of friends based on your personal preferences. For example, you can create a Friend List for your friends that meet for weekly book club meetings. You can create Friend Lists for all of your organizational needs, allowing you to quickly view friends by type and send messages to your lists.”

Here are some important things to remember about friend lists:

  • You can add a friend to more than one friend list
  • Friend lists should be used like “tags”
  • Friend Lists can have specific privacy policies set to them

And finally the purpose of this article: You can filter your News Feed by lists!

A typical setup for lists would be “Friends”, “Family”, and “Professional”. Now you can organize which people to browser through when your on your News Feed.
