Some time ago we reported applications that allowed users to find out when a friend came online on Facebook. Following Facebook book updates those applications have stopped working and for some time now many have requested a new application be offered that could provide a similar service.
Chat Alert is a new application that notifies you when a friend (or girlfriend/ boyfriend) comes on Facebook, or get an email, SMS or private message when a user switches from offline to online in the chat.
Everything you need to do is is at this address: http://apps.facebook.com/chatalert/, authorize the application and start to configure it. The first step is to choose the friends to monitor by clicking on "Add friends to your alert list." Now you can choose for each user added, such as receiving notifications: an e-mail to your personal mailbox, a message in Facebook inbox or a text message (the latter is a paid service).
In the basic version (free) you can monitor up to 5 friends. The service will monitor the friends you choose and will promptly inform you when they come online.
